We were asked to devise a shooters menu for a client today so I decided to share it on here too. In no particular order, ten shooters that every bartender should know:
Layer into chilled shot glass equal measures of Kahlua, Baileys and Grand Marnier. Named after the B-52 bombers used in Vietnam.
2. Baby Guinness
Layer Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur over Kahlua to resemble err, a baby Guinness.
3. After Eight
Pour Cremé de Menthé and White Cremé de Cacao into a shot glass. Minty Chocolate.
4. Brain Hemorrhage
Layer Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur over Peach Schnapps, then drop Grenadine Syrup into the glass, which will be coated by the Baileys and sink, to give a hemorrhage effect.
Pour into shot glass Sambucca, followed by clear Tequila and then add drops of Tabasco to create a red line until desired heat is reached. Offer to customer and stand back.
6. Purple Hooter
Chambord Berry Liqueur and Vodka. Simple but tasty and colourful.
Probably one of the more complicated shots to create, but delicious none-the-less. The first shot consists of Tomato Juice, Pomegranate Juice, Orange Juice, Lime, Tabasco, Worcestershire Sauce, Salt and Pepper all shaken and fine strained into the shot glass. This is then served alongside Tequila to be either necked or sipped alternatively.
8. Slippery Nipple
Another 80s classic, Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur floated on top of Sambucca with Grenadine Syrup poured in. Very sweet.
9. Tequila Slammer
A lot of people think that a Tequila Slammer is when you lick the salt, shoot the Tequila and then bite into a lemon. A proper Tequila Slammer, is half Tequila, half Champagne (or Soda for the cheap option), place your hand over the glass to create a seal, ‘slam’ the glass hard on the table three times to fizz up the drink and then shoot. Surprisingly pleasant.
10. Russian Roulette
My personal favourite. Line up 6 shot glasses, add a flavoured vodka to each one and pass around. Different flavours every time. To make it a real Russian Roulette, substitute one of the vodkas with mineral water – someone will be disappointed.
