Biophilia means 'the love of nature', the innate connection between humans and the natural world

As a term, Biophilia has been used since the 1980s, where rates of rapid urbanisation led to increased distance between humans and nature, leading to American psychologist Edward O'Wilson coining the term.

We were asked by the design team at HOK London to assist with a biophilic design discussion event, using nature to inspire the cocktails that we would serve. Given this brief, our team put together a cocktail menu using herbs and natural ingredients, as well as constructing a living herb wall of rosemary, lavender, mint, sage, thyme and many others to have behind the bar, allowing our bartenders to forage for ingredients whilst mixing drinks.

Guests sampled great delights such as elderflower mojitos with freshly picked mint, rosemary collins with homemade rosemary syrup, and a raspberry and fresh thyme shrub.

The entire office space was decorated and thought out, with areas divided up using gorgeous recycled wooden partitions to not only break up the space, but also to display thought-provoking data about biophilia, and display the stars of the show; hanging baskets, pot plants and bamboo.

"Hope your well, just wanted to drop you a note to say how great the guys were on Tuesday for our event I was really impressed! We had way more guests than anticipated (I guess I did something right!) and your team handled it so well and really didn't let the pressure get to them! I've had nothing but positive feedback and staff asking when they are coming back!" - Hannah Douglas, HOK London
